Independent Living Housing Services

Social Services for Autism Spectrum Aduls

The Shire House ILHS services are for adults within our HFA and Neurodiverse community needing guidance and or instruction on living independently.

An ILHS client could be in their own house, apartment, or shared housing. Our Social Mentors meet regularly with the clients to review their week and track their progress. Some areas of guidance and or instruction might be in but are not limited to the following:
  • Budgeting
  • Paying bills on time
  • Home maintenance
  • Basic cooking skills
  • Finding a compatible roommate
  • Basic auto care

Our Housing Partner in San Jose, CA

Since 2016, Maria Jackson has been working alongside Shire House by providing independent living housing with light supports to young adults within the Asperger, HFA, and Neurodiverse community. The young adults living at our Housing Partners are already working full time. The need for Housing Partners arose when these out-of-state young adults were offered jobs in Silicon Valley.
