During this Covid-19 Pandemic, Shire House is an ideal alternative to a closed college campus – a college student would be able to do their online courses and still receive academic support while experiencing a college dorm setting.
Friday Socials are cancelled until further notice in response to CDC guidance on the COVID 19 outbreak.
Shire House provides a social opportunity for young adults (17+) who are within the high functioning Autism spectrum.
Our Friday socials are an opportunity for those within our high-functioning Autism community to have a place to socialize, make friends, and become part of a community of their peers.
Our socials are every Friday of the year, from 6-9 pm. Pizza and sodas are provided during the social. There are no fees to attend, but donations are gratefully accepted. It is not required to RSVP. We encourage parents not to join the social.
The house is spacious enough to allow several different activities to be happening at the same time, including video games, board games, or just hanging out to chat or mingle.
We have started Computer Coding Classes at Shire House. The classes are every Saturday from 10 am to 2 pm and are led by volunteers proficient in the various computer languages. A student can start at any time since the students are using an online program in which they can go at their own pace.
Our Parent Support Group meets the 2nd Saturday of each month.
