“You hear that mom?” my son asked.
No, not really.
“There…listen. Hear how the bass is more predominant and the drums become the background? That’s layers,” he said.
We continued listening to the music piece and discussing it. He would pause the piece from time to time pointing out the layers.
This all happened some time ago. Now I am better able to identify the layers in the music pieces he shares with me. As I go through my day there are times I note to myself…layers.
The beginning of a new school year.
Phone calls and notes from the teacher.
Endless meetings, consultations and tests.
Therapists, behaviorists, special education teachers,
clinicians, psychologists, psychiatrists.
Prescriptions, diets, nutritional supplements…layers.
The years go by…layers.
